The Scarf Saga-A Ministry that Changes Girl’s Lives in India
Cambria has been working on a new ministry where she’s selling beautiful pashmina scarves and donating 100% of proceeds towards helping uneducated young girls and widows in India who are in desperate need of supporting themselves or raising money for a dowry (the traditional amount of money given with a bride in marriage). She’s doing some amazing things, and I encourage you to check out her project or even see about buying a scarf or two ($20 bucks a piece–an absolute bargain for pashmina or cashmere scarf) to help it along. You can visit her description of the project here and leave her a note that you’d like to buy some.)

Katie’s Birthday!
Katie turns 25 on Jan 11, and she has invited us all to celebrate with her on Saturday, January 19 at 8pm. Her address is:
1311 12th Ave. S., Seattle WA 98177
The party is themed and it’s PROM. So come dressed as if you were going to prom (not required, but highly encouaged) and get ready to re-live the fun memories of high school (all awkwardness should be left in your car). Music will be playing, and dancing is a definite possibility. Punch and snacks will be provided, and bring a drink to share, if you like.
You don’t have to RSVP, but here’s the number to call if you get lost.

How People Change
As most of you know, we’re reading the How People Change Workbook together, so if you don’t have a copy, pick one up sometime this week at the Mars Hill Bookstore. It is $21 and if you pay in cash you can buy it at the bookstore 9-5 any weekday, otherwise, on Sundays it is open after service times (if you use a credit card you need to buy it on a Sunday after a service time).
Warm Winter Clothing Donations
Mars Hill is going to donate warm winter clothes to the homeless. If you bring anything that you want to give (jackets, socks, scarves…etc) Mark L will collect and donate it at the church.
Union Gospel Mission
Our group has a slot signed up for 8 volunteers to serve at a men’s dinner at the Union Gospel Misson on Tuesday March 4th from 7 to 9:30 pm. If you would like to be part of this, email Damien at dam_fog@yahoo.com. He is in the process of reserving a second night so that all of us can have a chance to serve for this.
Food
Any time you’re curious about the food list for the month, you can go to our blog and check out when you’re signed up for it.
Monthly Feasts
Once a month, instead of everyone bringing lots of food and preparing a huge party every four weeks, we will all plan on bringing $5 or so and having dinner together instead of just snacks (this is also noted in the food list on the blog.)
