Katie’s Birthday!
Katie turns 25 on Jan 11, and she has invited us all to celebrate with her on Saturday, January 19 at 8pm. Her address is:
1311 12th Ave. S., Seattle WA 98177
The party is themed and it’s PROM. So come dressed as if you were going to prom (not required, but highly encouaged) and get ready to re-live the fun memories of high school (all awkwardness should be left in your car). Music will be playing, and dancing is a definite possibility. Punch and snacks will be provided, and bring a drink to share, if you like.
You don’t have to RSVP, but here’s the number to call if you get lost.

How People Change
As most of you know, we’re reading the How People Change Workbook together, so if you don’t have a copy, pick one up sometime this week at the Mars Hill Bookstore. It is $21 and if you pay in cash you can buy it at the bookstore 9-5 any weekday, otherwise, on Sundays it is open after service times (if you use a credit card you need to buy it on a Sunday after a service time).
Warm Winter Clothing Donations
Mars Hill is going to donate warm winter clothes to the homeless. If you bring anything that you want to give (jackets, socks, scarves…etc) Mark L will collect and donate it at the church.
Union Gospel Mission
Our group has a slot signed up for 8 volunteers to serve at a men’s dinner at the Union Gospel Misson on Tuesday March 4th from 7 to 9:30 pm. If you would like to be part of this, email Damien at dam_fog@yahoo.com. He is in the process of reserving a second night so that all of us can have a chance to serve for this.
Food
Any time you’re curious about the food list for the month, you can go to our blog and check out when you’re signed up for it.
Monthly Feasts
Once a month, instead of everyone bringing lots of food and preparing a huge party every four weeks, we will all plan on bringing $5 or so and having dinner together instead of just snacks (this is also noted in the food list on the blog.)

Prayers and Praises 12/11
Mark: Prayer against anxiety and doubt regarding the new opportunity he has as a mentor and leader at Mars Hill.
Stephanie: Prayer for rest and sleep as she is sick and exhausted from her pregnancy and the routine of daily life.
Katie M: Prayer that she will have the confidence and boldness to share her faith with her father.
Markie: Prayer for school.
Gary: Prayer for work-related anxiety and praise that it is much less than it was before. Prayer regarding an interview with Eddie Bauer as a designer, that he will trust God and be okay with whichever outcome there is from it.
Mike: Prayer regarding his new boss at work and adjusting to the challenges it will bring.
Rynnah: Prayer for her depression and anxiety and the stages that she has to work through in order to come out of them. Prayer for her desire to control things and her fear of giving herself too much grace and becoming lazy-prayer for a balanced grace for herself.
Elise: Prayer for her anxiety surrounding seeing James’ family for Christmas. Prayer that she will trust God’s sovereignty and trust Him in things she can’t control.
Katie P: Praise that she does not have anxiety over work even though she has a very full plate. Pray for her anxiety over her family – she worries about her parents’ health since they are working a lot, and it scares Katie when they call twice or if she misses a call that it’s going to be devastating news.
Kathryn: Pray for her worry at work in a male-dominated practice where she feels like she has to prove herself every day.
Lauren: Pray for her struggles with “freaking out about things” and that she would be still and acknowledge God’s sovereignty.
Jeremy: His anxieties are all tied to “do people like me?” – He struggles with pleasing man instead of God. This is his biggest anxiety struggle.
Heather: Had a big meeting she had prepped for and had a LOT to get done, and the meeting did not go at all how she had planned and nothing got done. Pray for her to not be frustrated or anxious about getting the work done that should’ve happened at this meeting and to trust God’s plan in it.
Demetrius: Pray for strength and determination as he quits smoking.
Adriel: Pray for her to face her anxieties instead of ignoring them & just trying to manage the effects.
Tyler and Damien: Prayer that their bodies will be able to quickly fight and get over their illnesses.
